  1. Liquid War (v5.6.4) - Work in progress
  2.
  3. Note on releases
  4. ================
  5.
  6.
  7.   Whenever Liquid War is released, I usually pass the good news to Freshmeat (
  8.   http://freshmeat.net/projects/liquidwar/ ). Then all releases are accessible
  9.   from the main download page, which is
  10.   http://www.ufoot.org/liquidwar/v5/download.
  11.
  12.   Releasing the game takes time, for I want all binaries to install properly
  13.   and sources to compile cleanly. Therefore there might be some delay before
  14.   the time coding is over and the time a release is actually ready. So for
  15.   impatients and/or for people who need to test out the very latest versions
  16.   (eg someone who wants to compile the game on a new platform), it's possible
  17.   to access the source repository directly.
  18.
  19.
  20.
  21. About GNU Arch
  22. ==============
  23.
  24.
  25.   I use GNU Arch (Tom Lord's Arch in fact,
  26.   http://www.gnu.org/software/gnu-arch/ ) instead of the previously used CVS.
  27.   Indeed, tla has some very fancy features such as signing patches with gpg,
  28.   and I'm tired of suffering CVS limitations.
  29.
  30.   So FYI the previously active CVS repositories, on Sourceforge and Savannah,
  31.   are currently unmaintained.
  32.
  33.
  34.
  35. How to get latest releases
  36. ==========================
  37.
  38.
  39.   * Step 1: read the excellent Arch tutorial
  40.     http://regexps.srparish.net/www/tutorial/html/arch.html if you are not
  41.     familiar with tla. I admit there's a steep learning curve, but it's yet
  42.     clear and understandable.
  43.
  44.   * Step 2: point on the repository, which is accessible (read-only) on
  45.     http://arch.sv.gnu.org/archives/liquidwar/.
  46.
  47.   A typical set of tla commands would be:
  48.
  49.   tla register-archive http://arch.sv.gnu.org/archives/liquidwar
  50.   tla get -A liquidwar@sv.gnu.org liquidwar6--stable
  51.
  52.   If you are interested, I can open this repository in read/write mode, however
  53.   one of the points of GNU Arch is that it allows cooperative developpement
  54.   with multiple depots, so this isn't mandatory. And anyways, importing myself
  55.   patches received by email has never been a real burden.
  56.
  57.   Besides, most developpement is now done on Liquid War 6. See
  58.   http://www.gnu.org/software/liquidwar6/ or http://www.ufoot.org/liquidwar/v6
  59.   for more informations.
