A Chrome OS compatible SSD needs to power on in AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) mode, needs to support 16 byte commands, and its SATA level needs to be ATA8-ACS rev. 2 or higher.

Note that some devices that are capable of AHCI mode power up in IDE mode and rely on a command to change to AHCI mode.

These devices will NOT work.
